What is Revia (Naltrexone)?
Revia (Naltrexone) is one of the group of special narcotic drugs which are used to block the effects of alcohol and other narcotic medications in the organism. So it is used to treat both alcohol and narcotic drug addictions.
Your personal doctor can recommend the medication Revia not to be taken by you personally but to be given to you by a member of your family or your caregiver. It is done to make sure that you are treating with Revia as it was prescribed and not missing doses or overdosing.
It is very important for you not to use any alcohol or drugs while Revia treatment. Never take larger doses of alcohol or narcotic drugs trying to overcome the effect of Revia! This can lead to very serious complications, even coma and death. Your medications treating cough, cold, pain or diarrhea can contain alcohol or some narcotics. So you have to tell your personal doctor if you are intending to use or already using such medicines.
Revia can cause dangerous side effects impairing your reactions and thinking. So be very attentive if you have to drive or something like that requiring you to be alert and very attentive.
Be very careful before start taking Revia (Naltrexone) if you've got allergy on it, in case if you are drug addicted person, if you have the history of alcohol or narcotic drugs taking for more than seven to ten days.

If you started using Revia, do it exactly as it was recommended in your list of prescriptions. Never use it in larger doses or for longer period than it was recommended. Revia is taken with water (a full glass). It can be used with food. In this case stomach upset is decreased.
Revia should be taken regularly to achieve the best results. It is strongly recommended to wear an ID card or a medical bracelet stating you are using Revia, in case of any emergency. Any doctor should be aware of your taking Revia to treat you properly.
